When you're in Bali, all you want is to slip into a pretty dress and feel effortlessly chic.
But maybe you've been there — "Nothing seems to suit me" or "It's too resort-y to wear back home."
If that sounds familiar, let us introduce you to Subuh — a Bali-based dress brand run by a Japanese owner.
With flattering silhouettes and versatile designs you can wear beyond the island, Subuh has earned a loyal following among both travelers and long-term residents alike.

Getting to Subuh

Subuh Relax & Yoga Wear is located in Denpasar, the capital city of Bali.

A bit off the tourist trail, Denpasar is best reached by private car charter. It also makes a perfect stop on your way to or from Ubud!
The Vibe
The store is packed with dresses, tops, bottoms, and more — so much to discover!

There's a fitting room on-site, so don't hesitate to try things on.

What sets Subuh apart from other resort boutiques is its range of neutral, monochrome pieces and modest cuts — styles that work just as well back home as they do on the beach.
▼ Don't Miss: The Sale Corner

Tucked inside the store, the sale rack features last season's styles at 20% off.
"Last season" just means great pieces at even better prices — everything is just as cute and wearable as the new arrivals!
Dresses That Were Made for Bali

Here are some of my personal favorites — pieces I genuinely wanted to take home.
▼ The Rich-Tone Linen Dress

This floor-length dress in a deep red-purple hue has a slightly voluminous silhouette that gives it a luxe, elevated feel. The linen fabric is what really sells it.

Honestly, I'd wear this back home too!
▼ The Resort Print Dress

I spotted this one in a muted terracotta orange, though the same print also comes in navy and black — so there's something for everyone.
It slips on over your head and the flowy, lightweight fabric keeps you cool even in Bali's year-round heat. Honestly, it's the kind of dress you'll want to live in.
▼ The Batik Print Dress

Unlike the other two, this one leans fully into resort mode — sleeveless with a deep V-neck that gives it a confident, vacation-ready vibe. So cute!

The store carries an impressive range of prints and colorways. A fun idea: pick the same style as your friend but in different prints for an effortlessly coordinated look.
▼ The Jumpsuit

I actually found this gem in the sale section! A wide-leg jumpsuit is the perfect pick for a full day of sightseeing — stylish, comfortable, and ready for anything.
Everyday Pieces Even Bali Locals Love
Living in Bali means hopping on motorbikes and navigating daily life — so long dresses aren't always practical. Here are some versatile picks that work just as well for everyday wear.
▼ The Batik Blouse

The print and color palette strike the perfect balance between playful and polished. It pairs beautifully with just about anything in your wardrobe.
▼ The Linen Shorts

Don't let the name fool you — these are wide-leg shorts with a culottes-style fit, so they feel sophisticated and age-appropriate, not too casual.

I went for a white-with-thin-black-stripe version — the matching blouse has French sleeves and a modest neckline, which I loved.
If you spot me around Bali wearing this, come say hi! 😄
▼ Oh, and I Grabbed This Too

A breezy, 100% cotton long-sleeve shirt — perfect for scooter rides, and even better thrown over a swimsuit.
The Yoga Wear Section
▼Yoga Pants

These are called "Aladdin Pants" — and once you try them, you'll understand the name.
They're relaxed through the hips but taper at the ankles, so they look streamlined rather than baggy. The stretchy fabric moves with you, making them ideal for yoga.

Wrinkle-resistant and a little more polished than a jersey tee, it's an easy pick for long flights or road trips too.
▼Bra Top

The bra top sits just long enough to show a hint of midriff — pair it with the Aladdin Pants for a complete yoga look that's both functional and stylish.

This one works as a base layer or under low-cut dresses where a regular bra wouldn't do.
The ribbed fabric has a slimming effect — a nice bonus!
The non-ribbed cotton version is priced at 168,000 IDR
The Takeaway
