Some shops you may have noticed in Canggu actually have their main stores here in Seminyak.

In this article, I’ve carefully selected lovely shops where you can find items that hold special travel memories.

A sweet souvenir everyone loves: Bali Nougat

Bali Nougat is a shop specializing in traditional French nougat, known for its unique use of local Balinese ingredients.

Nougat comes in bite-sized pieces

This soft-style candy doesn’t melt easily, even in Bali’s heat, making it a popular gift and a great souvenir to take back to Japan.

Nougat made with pandan leaf, often called “the vanilla of the East,” and coconut has a distinctly Balinese flavor and is especially popular as a souvenir.

100g: 75,000 IDR (approx. $5)

You can choose as much or as little as you like from various flavors, weighed by the amount you select.

200g box: 150,000 IDR (approx. $10)

This option includes an assortment of flavors, pre-packed in a 200g box.

Owned by a French chef living in Bali

Mr.François

François, a French chef living in Bali, originally worked as a French cuisine chef. After running restaurants in Bali, he now operates this nougat shop along with a deli located just across the street.

Seminyak Village is a shopping mall, but unlike typical malls in Bali, it focuses mainly on souvenirs.

YUKI

Instead of international brand stores, it brings together many small souvenir shops in one place.

Because it’s fully indoors, you can enjoy shopping comfortably even on rainy days.

For casual souvenirs: Bintang Supermarket

Bintang Supermarket is one of the best places in Bali for souvenir shopping.

From coffee and snacks to sambal, seasonings, and soap, you’ll find just about everything.

How about local snacks as souvenirs?

Tempeh chips are rare in Japan, making them a unique Balinese souvenir.

The bags may puff up due to cabin pressure, but they’re full of authentic Balinese flavor.

16,900 IDR per bag (approx. $1.10)

Snacks from the brand YAVA are especially popular in Bali.They also sell nuts, but the fluffy popcorn is affordable and highly recommended.

Located right across from Bintang Supermarket, it’s easy to visit both in one trip.

Papiya is a wholesale-style accessory shop.

You’ll find many colorful designs perfect for Bali, with prices starting around ¥500.

Woven string bracelets are lightweight and easy to wear.

I have a metal allergy, so I swap the hooks with surgical stainless steel ones I brought from Japan, and it still costs under ¥1,000 in total.

The flea market is a market-style space lined with many tents, selling everything from fashion to small goods.

Colorful dresses you can buy locally

Prices start from around 100,000 IDR (approx. $7), with colorful resort wear perfect for the beach or the mountains.

Interior items you’ll want to take home

Bali is known for its wide selection of cute interior items.

Plenty of unique souvenirs

From hanging decorations to small ornaments, there are many statement pieces for your room.Most items don’t have price tags, so feel free to ask if something catches your eye.

Prices often start high, but shop owners may ask, “How much would you buy it for?”

Bracelets start from around 250,000 IDR (approx. $17).

Hmm, that’s a bit expensive. Maybe I won’t buy it.

How many do you want?

YUKI

Just one.

Then how about 200,000 IDR (around $13)?

(Thinking to myself: Still a bit pricey… what should I do?)

Okay then, how about 150,000 IDR (around $10)?

YUKI

That sounds good. I’ll take it!

In the end, I managed to buy a 250,000 IDR bracelet for about 150,000 IDR (approx. $10).

Plenty of resort dresses at Seminyak Square

Market area

Seminyak Square is a mixed-use area combining a tent-style market with street-front shops such as surf stores.

Inside the outdoor tents, you’ll find silver accessories, small goods, and resort dresses, and most items do not have price tags, just like at the flea market.

If something catches your eye, simply ask for the price.

You may feel unsure about bargaining without knowing the standard price, but trusting your own sense is perfectly fine.Think of bargaining as a form of communication and enjoy the process.
