Location & Access: A Hidden Gem in Legian

Warung Cahaya is located in the Legian area, roughly a 25-minute drive from the airport.
Legian is known for its high-energy streets, packed with vibrant bars, restaurants, and local food stalls.
While tucked away in a quiet back alley, this humble eatery is a local hotspot that’s always buzzing with life.

The space is cozy and intimate, reaching its peak energy during the daily lunch rush.

You might see a queue on busy days, but the fast service ensures your table will be ready before you know it.

Experience the Legendary Babi Sambal Matah.

Presenting the star of the show: the signature Babi Goreng Sambal Matah for 52,000 IDR.
On the top right, you have the "Babi Goreng" (fried pork), and on the left, the vibrant "Sambal Matah."
It’s a simple plate, but the addictive magic lies in the perfect marriage of crispy fried pork and Bali’s iconic raw spicy salsa.

The pork is fried to a golden crunch—it might look firm at first, but one bite will change everything.
It’s incredibly succulent and surprisingly tender on the inside.

This version features thick-cut pork belly, fried to perfection and paired with the same spicy kick.
The rendered fat is so crispy and flavorful—it’s an absolute game-changer.
So, what exactly is the Sambal Matah that brings it all together?
In Indonesian, "Sambal" means spicy sauce, and "Matah" means raw. It’s a quintessential Balinese raw relish made from shallots, bird's eye chilies, garlic, and lemongrass, all tossed in coconut oil and a squeeze of fresh lime.

My local friend opted for a fried egg to complete the plate. You can customize your dish with an "Extra Egg" for just 6,000 IDR.

Can’t get enough heat? Order "Extra Sambal" for 10,000 IDR to keep the fire going. If you’re a spice enthusiast, this is an absolute must-order.

Cool down from the heat with a refreshing Melon Cream Soda—the perfect sweet contrast.
It’s a nostalgic treat that brings back a touch of retro charm.

Don’t miss the "Sate Babi" (pork skewers)—great for dining in or taking to go.

Paired with a side egg, it tastes just like classic Japanese tsukune. The savory, charcoal-grilled flavor will definitely have you reaching for a cold Bintang beer.
The Drill: How to Order.

Head straight to the counter to place your order and pay before finding a seat.

When I’m with friends, we usually have one person snag a table while the other handles the bill.

Beyond the cozy 10-seat interior, there’s a terrace and an extra room tucked away in the back.
Thanks to its cult following, the space keeps expanding to welcome more fans.

Heads up: prices have been creeping up lately—I noticed a small 3,000 IDR jump since my last visit.
