Location & Access

Jamu Resep KUNO is tucked away on a quiet residential street in Kerobokan.

It doesn't look like a shop at all — just an ordinary house!

Step inside and you'll find a dedicated fridge lined with freshly made jamu.

Why Jamu Resep KUNO Stands Out

Meet Sandra, the owner

"Jamu Resep KUNO" translates to "KUNO's Jamu Recipe" in Indonesian.

Owner Sandra started the business in 2018, carrying on her mother's recipe.

In Bali, good food with real quality spreads fast by word of mouth.

Sandra's jamu was no exception — it quickly became so popular that it's now served at breakfast in five-star hotels (though the label is removed, so guests wouldn't know it's hers).

Freshly Made, Every Single Day

All of Sandra's jamu is made from fresh raw ingredients, with no additives or preservatives — which means it only keeps for about 7 days.

(The ginger variety keeps for just 3 days.)

Rather than running a storefront, which would make sourcing fresh ingredients harder, she works out of a small home workshop and relies on delivery apps to get it to customers.

Two Sizes to Choose From

While jamu can come as a powder or a tea, everything at Jamu Resep KUNO is ready-to-drink.

Bottles come in two sizes: 250ml and 1 liter.

The recommended daily amount is 250ml, so a 1-liter bottle should last about 4-5 days!

▼Kunyit Asem

These two bottles are both Kunyit Asem.

Notice how they're the same drink, but different in color?

That's because it comes in sweetened and unsweetened versions (true for every flavor here).

It's sweetened with coconut sugar, so it's just lightly sweet, not overpowering.

Tamarind, also known as asam jawa, brings a sticky-sweet tartness to the mix.

According to Sandra, Kunyit Asem is said to help with things like:
・Boosting immunity
・Healthier-looking skin
・Supporting weight loss
・Balancing blood sugar
・Lowering cancer risk
and so on

Personally, I found the generous amount of turmeric seemed to help ward off hangovers, too.

It's the classic, everyday choice for staying healthy.

▼Beras Kencur

Like Kunyit Asem, this one also comes sweetened or unsweetened.

Beras Kencur is made from rice (beras) and kencur, a native root.

A hint of bitterness with a gingery kick

You might expect something thick, like a rice-based sweet drink, but it's actually light and smooth, just like juice.

Kencur looks like a small piece of ginger and belongs to the same plant family — it's considered an essential medicinal ingredient in jamu.

And Sandra told me
Beras Kencur is said to help with:
・Easing cold symptoms
・Immune support
・Soothing throat and cough
・Aiding digestion
・Boosting stamina and energy
and so on

I actually tried it while I had a cold, and my symptoms genuinely eased up.

▼Sirih Resep Wangi

This one also comes in sweetened and unsweetened options.

Sirih Resep Wangi is a jamu made specifically for women, using betel leaf (sirih), known for its deodorizing and antibacterial properties.

Not watery, not too thick — just the right texture

Its murky yellow-brown color doesn't look very appetizing, and honestly, the taste lives up to that — bitter medicine indeed.

Sirih Resep Wangi is designed to support women's health — helpful for things like irregular periods or general feminine hygiene concerns.

Sandra told me
that drinking it on the first day of your period helps things flow properly —
— basically supporting a regular cycle.
It's also said to help with:
・Feminine odor care
・Vaginal tightening
・Reducing discharge
・Protecting the uterus from viruses and bacteria
and so on

I tried it on the first day of my period, and it seemed to ease the cramps a little. That said, the taste was tough for me compared to the others, so I'll save it for that time of the month only!
