Location & Access

Warung Gloria sits in the Kerobokan area, about 50 minutes by car from the airport.

Surrounded by rice fields, cafés, and homes, it draws far more expats and local Indonesians than tourists.

It opens at 8am, but the full lineup of dishes doesn't really come together until after 11. Lunch is the way to go here, not breakfast.

A Truly Local Atmosphere

The display case holds over 30 dishes at any given time.

There's an auntie behind the counter who dishes everything out — just point at what you want. Add rice, and there's your nasi campur.

What sets Warung Gloria apart is that the dish cases actually circle around the auntie in the middle.

Why This Nasi Campur Is Something Else

Here's what I picked for lunch that day:

Three side dishes is genuinely plenty. I used to get carried away and pick five, but I could barely finish it.

One thing you have to order: the omelet. It's Warung Gloria's signature dish.

It's a thin omelet loaded with vegetables, pan-fried to order, one at a time.

Pair it with sambal and rice, and it's a match made in heaven.

Ask anyone who keeps coming back, and they'll say the same thing: the sheer variety of vegetable dishes is what keeps them hooked.

Mushrooms simmered in oil, bitter melon salad, green bean salad — no wonder it's such a hit with vegetarians who want to load up on greens.

And there's one more thing I have to mention.

The rice selection here is next-level. Most nasi campur spots give you a choice of two — plain white rice or nasi kuning (turmeric and coconut milk rice) — but Warung Gloria offers six or seven.

Definitely try the nasi merah (red rice). Its slightly dry, fluffy texture pairs beautifully with oilier dishes like the omelet, ayam goreng, and sambal.

Then there's nasi hijau, cooked with pandan leaf and sweet potato.

Pandan leaf has a subtly sweet aroma and shows up all over Indonesian cooking — it's sometimes called "the vanilla of the East." It pairs especially well with spicy dishes.

There's also nasi jagung (rice cooked with corn), nasi hitam (black rice), and nasi uduk (rice cooked with bay leaf, lemongrass, and coconut milk).
