My top pick for it is Mana Uluwatu, a restaurant and bar inside Uluwatu Surf Village, just near Uluwatu Temple.

Location & Access

Mana Uluwatu sits right near Uluwatu Temple, famous for its Kecak dance — pretty much the heart of Uluwatu.

From the airport, it's about an hour with no traffic.

Traffic gets heavy as sunset approaches, so it's hard to predict exactly when you'll arrive.

I'd recommend leaving so you arrive between 3 and 4 PM.

The entrance is a little tricky to spot, but once you cross the large parking lot, you'll see a sign that says "Mana."

That's the entrance.

An Open-Air Pool and Terrace

The ground floor centers around a pool, with seating wrapped around it.

Pools inside resort hotels can sometimes feel off-limits to non-guests, or just a bit awkward for outside visitors.

Not the case here at all.

The whole place has a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere.

And once the sun starts to dip and sunset approaches,

the space gets decorated with marigold flowers.

It's such a charming touch.

Got in the pool early to claim my sunset spot

The second floor of the restaurant, meanwhile, has table seating.

This is also where the hotel's front desk and check-in are located, along with a small gift shop.

It carries well-curated Bali-made products — natural stones, jewelry, notebooks, cards. Small, but well worth a browse.

If you'd rather sit at a table than by the pool, I'd recommend the seats furthest toward the ocean on the second floor.

Snacks and Drinks to Pair with the Sunset

No sunset is complete without a proper sunset drink.

Red Sangria — 300,000 IDR (happy hour price, 50% off)

I ordered sangria that day, served in a large jar loaded with fruit.

Just looking at it was enough to lift my mood.

Their sangria is made with plenty of soda mixed into the red wine, so it went down almost like juice (a little too easily, honestly).

For snacks, we got avocado dip and fries, each around 70,000 rupiah, with peanuts thrown in on the house.

The avocado dip came topped with diced mango and edible flowers — a nice touch of style. The tortilla chips came in two versions: a jet-black squid ink type and a plain one.

Between the two of us, that was plenty to keep us going until the sun had fully set.

Sunset Time at Mana Uluwatu

Once the sun reaches around this point, it's showtime.

From here, it drops toward the ocean surprisingly fast.

So this is the moment to settle into your seat and really watch it go down.

And on this particular day, we got a perfectly clear view of the sun sinking straight into the sea.

The reason I'd recommend watching sunset from Uluwatu is this sweeping, near-360-degree view of the Indian Ocean.

It's the kind of raw, powerful view that makes you feel like you could see past the horizon itself.

And it's not over once the sun disappears.
